Body of missing Freeport woman found by fisherman

The body of a Freeport woman who was reported missing last week was found a few miles offshore.

On Monday morning, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said the body of 55-year-old Wendy Lewis was found by a fisherman.

During the search, investigators were led to her vehicle, which was found in Bristol near the Salt Pond Preserve the same day she went missing.

She had last been seen July 7th at a convenience store in Freeport.

No other details, including a cause of death, have been released by police.
