The body of a missing Milbridge fisherman is being taken to the state medical examiner for an autopsy after being found over the weekend.

Maine Marine Patrol says 51-year-old Alton Wallace was located late Saturday morning in Narraguagas Bay, east of Bar Harbor.

Wallace had been missing since May 18th, when he failed to return from harvesting clams.

Marine Patrol officers say they were able to confirm Wallace’s identity by the driver’s license in his pocket.

The state Department of Marine Resources said Saturday that a fisherman found the man’s body near the high-water line on the western shore of Foster Island in Narraguagus Bay.
