Body recovered after fire in Mexico

A fatal fire in the town of Mexico is under investigation.

Dispatchers received a call around 7 a.m. Friday morning reporting a fire on Tucker Street. Firefighters used a ladder to rescue one female from the building. She was not injured.

Once the flames were extinguished, firefighters recovered the body of another female inside.

The body was brought to the medical examiner’s office for an autopsy. Their identity wasn’t immediately released.

The investigation is ongoing.
