Several Maine courthouses were evacuated Thursday after receiving a bomb threat in an email.

Officials say the threats targeted the Cumberland County Courthouse in Portland and the Capital Judicial Center in Augusta, which were both evacuated Thursday morning.

Cumberland County officials believe the threats were a hoax. K9 units swept the Cumberland County Courthouse and found no evidence of explosives. The building was reopened at 11:30 a.m.

The York County courthouse was also evacuated as a precaution.

On Wednesday, threats were made against several state capitol buildings, including the State House in Augusta. Cumberland County officials say they believe the threats from Wednesday and Thursday are connected.
