Boothbay Harbor man arrested after shooting, lengthy police standoff


A man has been charged with attempted murder following a shooting and police standoff in Boothbay Harbor.

It began Sunday afternoon when witnesses reported seeing a man with a gun and hearing gunshots in the parking lot of the Campbell Creek Apartment Complex.

Before police arrived, the victim went to a local urgent care facility for treatment of gunshot wounds.

The victim was transported to LincolnHealth – Miles Campus and Hospital and then transferred via Life Flight to Maine Medical Center in Portland.

Meanwhile, the suspect went into one of the apartments and the ensuing police standoff lasted until about 3 a.m. Monday.

According to CBS 13, the suspect was identified as 40-year-old Matthew Plummer of Boothbay Harbor.

He was also charged with violating conditions of release stemming from a 2018 standoff in Wiscasset.

Plummer was expected to appear Monday in Wiscasset Unified Court.

An update on the condition of the victim was not immediately released.
