Police say the father of an infant who died last July has been indicted in the child’s death.

Shannon Moss with the Maine Department of Public Safety says 27-year-old Trevor Averill, who now lives in Buckfield, was charged with depraved indifference murder and manslaughter.

Police responded to a report of a two-month old infant in medical distress at the family’s home in Turner on July 22nd, 2020. The child, identified as Harper Averill, suffered injuries and was brought to Maine Medical Center where she died.

Law enforcement have been working on the case ever since, and on Wednesday a grand jury returned an indictment for the girl’s father. He was arrested at his home in Buckfield on Wednesday afternoon.
