A Maine-based retailer of music, movies and video games is apologizing after laying off employees at it’s location in Salem, New Hampshire.
Bull Moose laid off employees after closing the Salem location without explanation in May. According to the Portland Press Herald, some employees said workers there opposed a decision by the store to allow unmasked customers inside, leading to the closure, and there were concerns raised over incidents of harassment by customers where managers didn’t step in.

The company says it’s now rehiring the employees it laid off, but denied the move came as a result of the mask issue. In a statement released Friday, Bull Moose apologized and said all former employees accepted offers for their old positions, and will receive back pay.
They also highlighted other changes they’re making, like promoting one of the store’s employees and pushing to boost pay for everyone to at least $15 an hour.
