Bust at Somerset County pot growing site leads to seizure of hundreds of plants

Police have busted another illegal marijuana growing operation in Maine.

The latest site was located in St. Albans, about 100 yards away from a local child care center.

Police say they found more than 200 mature cannabis plants and trimmings from roughly 1,500 more plants. No one was home and no arrests were made during the raid Thursday morning.

It marks the 18th raid of an illegal marijuana grow in Somerset County this year.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office says hundreds of suspected growing operations across rural Maine may be linked to Chinese transnational criminal groups.
