The Drive Fore Kids celebrity golf tournament is taking place June 20-22. Maine native and NESN broadcaster Tom Caron said the charity tournament is an important staple in the state.

“Being back in Maine with these people, I love that Brian Corcoran has put this together in such a way that you’re getting actors, legendary athletes, and everyone to come to Portland and play at Falmouth,” said Caron.

The Drive Fore Kids tournament draws many celebrities from out of state, including star of “The Bachelor” and winner of “Dancing with the Stars” Joey Graziadei. “I have a lot of friends who did this tournament before, they spoke highly of it,” said Graziadei.

The draw of international celebrities and world-renowned athletes to Maine is largely due to the purpose of the tournament. “I’m here because it’s a great cause,” said Graziadei. The event serves as a fundraiser for both the Dempsey Foundation and Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital, and is expected to raise over $100,000, according to WGME.

Fans at the course can expect celebrity interactions over the weekend and, like fans, many celebrities are excited about the list of participants.

“There’s a lot of those guys that I grew up watching play sports and it’s fun to see them at these events and mingle with them,” said Joey Graziadei. “[Michael Peña] and I met through golf and have become really good buddies. He’s a great player, but I’m hoping to beat him this weekend,” said former pro golfer Hally Leadbetter.

The commitment to the cause and support of this fundraising event is strong. Actor and producer Michael Peña took time off from film production in order to attend the tournament. “He’s in the middle of shooting but actually had them hold up the schedule… so he could get back out here for the weekend,” said Caron.

The tournament takes place at the Falmouth Country Club. Ticket sales and a donation link can be found on the Drive Fore Kids website.
