PORTLAND, Maine (AP) Utility crews are mopping up remaining power outages following a powerful weekend windstorm.

At the peak, about 80,000 homes and businesses were in the dark in Maine after winds began gusting Saturday afternoon. By Monday afternoon, the number was down to fewer than 1,000.

Officials say the storm was short but intense before the winds died down. The next rain could move into the state by Tuesday afternoon.
