AUGUSTA, ME— Central Maine Power (CMP) is prepared to respond to outages caused by heavy winds expected across the state Saturday evening and into the night. With predicted wind gusts of 35-45 MPH, CMP has 100 crews available and 62 contracted crews ready to assist if needed, as well as 100 tree crews.
“Trees are still carrying heavy foliage and strong winds, like what are expected tonight, can cause heavy branches and trees to fall onto our lines, which are frequently outside our trimming zone,” said David Flanagan, CMP Executive Chairman. “Our first focus will be ensuring public safety. We will work closely with local County Emergency Management officials to understand local priorities for clearing debris and downed wires and making sure roadways are cleared for emergency vehicles.” CMP continues to observe all COVID-19 safety protocols in storm response including:
