BRUNSWICK (WGME) — There’s a chance for power outages Saturday, especially along the Maine coast.
CMP says that they are following Charlie Lopresti’s forecast, and say that if there is any flooding or high winds along the coast line, it could bring down some trees and powerlines.
They say at this point, they are trying to not have a repeat of last year’s wind storm.
CMP says last year’s storm caused tens of thousands of power outages, and that they are bringing in extra crews this weekend to make sure they can respond to anything quickly.
They say they’ve learned a lot in that one-year span, saying a major change was how closely they coordinate natural disasters with local emergency management offices.
“Things like clearing roads of downed trees and poles and lines,” spokeswoman Gail Rice said. “Towns report that to their county EMA’s, and that gets prioritized and forwarded along to us. So, our coordination with our county EMAs is much tighter than it was a year ago.”
She says anyone staying home this weekend, especially residents of coastal cities, should make sure they have fresh batteries, charged phones, and full tanks of gas in their car.
