AUGUSTA (WGME) — Central Maine Power says it’s closely monitoring a major snowstorm that’s expected to impact southern parts of Maine Sunday night through early Tuesday.
The storm comes just days after strong winds left more than 30,000 customers without power in central and western Maine on Thanksgiving.
“The most significant number of outages from the Thanksgiving day storm occurred in the northern regions of the CMP service territory,” said Kevin Elwell, director Electric Distribution. “According to current forecasts, this next storm looks as though the southern areas may bear the brunt of the snow and we will position our people and equipment appropriately.”
According to the utility, it’s arranging lineworker schedules, contacting contractors and preparing to position extra resources in Southern Maine.
The company has also been coordinating with the Maine Emergency Management Agency and local EMA’s to prepare for the impending storm.
If you lose power during the storm you can report it here or call (800) 696-1000.
