CMP Program In Massachusetts Raising Some Eyebrows

Portland, ME (WGAN) Central Maine Power company is offering a $50 million assistance program for low income residents in Massachusetts.

State consumer advocate Barry Hobbins calls it an insult to CMP customers in Maine, because there is no similar program for their Maine customers.

The Portland Press Herald reports that Hobbins intends to see that a similar program is made available in Maine by CMP…at no less than $50 million, the same as the program in the bay state.

Governor Paul LePage has remained silent on the issue.

CMP claims the money was sent to Massachusetts by mandate…something Maine does not require.
