BUXTON, Maine (WGAN) Part of Route 202 in Buxton was closed Tuesday night while crews cleaned up cooking oil that had spilled from a truck.

According to the Portland Press Herald, up to 2,500 gallons of used restaurant cooking oil spilled from the truck, which had an equipment malfunction.

The driver was able to pull into a gas station and use a vacuum machine to stop the leak.

Maine’s Department of Environmental Protection was at the scene to oversee the cleanup, which caused the road to be closed from about 8 p.m. until 11 p.m.
