(AP) Maine health officials have reported that health care providers in the state have now administered more doses of coronavirus vaccines than there are residents of Maine.

It’s possible because two of the available vaccines require two doses.

More than 1.4 million doses have been administered in Maine, according to state officials.

The state’s population is about 1.3 million.

About 54 percent of Mainers are fully vaccinated.

The Maine CDC on Wednesday reported three new deaths and 53 new cases of the coronavirus.

The state has recorded 843 deaths and 68,384 coronavirus cases since the pandemic began.
