COVID-19 victim identified as Maine DOT worker, Naples fire fighter


A longtime Department of Transportation employee and local fire fighter is the state’s first publicly identified coronavirus victim.

Rick Paraschak, 66, died Sunday of covid-19, the disease caused by coronavirus.

In addition to being a longtime employee of the Maine DOT, he was a 25-year member of the Naples Fire Department.

One of his children told the Portland Press Herald that his father had no underlying health conditions, but his symptoms quickly grew from mild to serious.

He died after being taken to the intensive care unit at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.
