The Portland Jetport was closed Friday afternoon while emergency crews responded to a plane crash.

The Jetport said the runway had been closed and all flights were being held at their origin points. Several incoming flights were diverted to other airports.

Police said the aircraft that crashed around 3:40 p.m. was a small private plane with two passengers. Both were taken to the hospital but did not suffer life-threatening injuries.

The primary runway reopened just before 5 p.m., but the runway where the crash occurred remained closed.

Photos from the scene showed the plane snapped in half.
