Crash in Bangor leaves one pedestrian dead

Bangor police are investigating after a pedestrian was hit and killed by a car Saturday evening.

Police say 69-year-old Jeffrey Green of Bangor was hit by an SUV on Kenduskeag Avenue just before 7 p.m. and pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the SUV told investigators Green appeared in front of him suddenly, and he believed he was chasing after a dog.

The driver of the SUV is cooperating with the investigation.
