A man from Rockland was killed in a fiery crash in Woolwich on Friday.

Police say 38-year-old Alex Colson was heading north on Route 1 Friday morning between the Montsweag Restaurant and the intersection with Mountain Road.

Colson suffered serious injuries and died at the scene after he crossed the centerline and hit a box truck, causing both vehicles to catch fire.

The driver of the box truck, 60-year-old Scott Rice of Waldoboro, was taken to Maine Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash is still under investigation.
