OLD ORCHARD BEACH, Maine (WGAN)  The Old Orchard Beach Fire Department says a small fire was extinguished within 15 minutes Friday morning.

The department says just before 11 a.m., a fire was reported at 19 Ocean Avenue.

When crews arrived on scene, they saw light smoke and occupants of the apartment said there had been a fire in the kitchen that was extinguished.

When crews went inside, the fire was still ablaze in the kitchen and had stretched to a shared wall with the adjacent apartment.

Fire crews from Saco, Biddeford and Scarborough were called in for assistance and the fire was knocked out in 15 minutes.

Fire crews says the apartment where the fire started was heavily damaged.  Nobody was hurt.

Crews say the fire is under investigation, but it is not considered suspicious.
