The administration of Governor Janet Mills has moved Cumberland County to the yellow category in the latest update to it’s COVID-19 health advisory system for Maine’s schools.

Friday’s update puts Cumberland County in the yellow category, which means schools there are advised to proceed with a hybrid learning model.

Androscoggin, York and Oxford counties remain yellow, while all others remain green, which allows for all in-person learning.

Maine’s DHHS says evidence suggests schools are not the main driver of virus transmission. They report that over the last 30 days, the rate of new cases is 25.2 per 100,000 staff and students, compared to 62.5 per 100,000 people statewide.
