Custom battery charging pack blamed for car fire in Hollis

Photo: Maine Fire Marshal's Office

Fire investigators say a lithium-ion battery system was the cause of a vehicle fire in Hollis.

The fire broke out around 11:45 p.m. Saturday at a property on Moderation Street.

The fire marshal’s office says the fire was caused by a lithium-ion battery bank that was charging at the time and was being used to power a custom-built audio system for a car that was to be used at an audio show.

No serious injuries were reported, but an adjacent portable garage was damaged.
