ROCKLAND, Maine (AP) A district attorney in Maine is reviewing convictions that involved a Rockland police officer dubbed “dishonest” by a judge.

Knox County District Attorney Jonathan Liberman said Wednesday that closed cases will be reviewed to determine if they need to be reopened, in light of accusations against former officer Jacob Shirey. He said active cases are also being reviewed.

Justice Daniel Billings wrote in a ruling dismissing a drunken-driving charge that the case was “tainted by a dishonest officer.”

Liberman said Shirey left the department after an investigation into concerns about his professionalism and honesty. He said attorneys in pending cases that depend on Shirey’s testimony have been alerted about the concerns.

The Associated Press couldn’t find a phone number for Shirey, and he didn’t answer a message left with a family member.
