Death of Bangor man killed in apartment fire is ruled a homicide

BANGOR, Maine (WGAN) The death of a Bangor man who died after a fire broke out in his kitchen has been ruled a homicide.

Firefighters pulled 59-year-old Bert Conley out of his Essex Street apartment and brought him to a hospital Friday morning. Carroll Conley Jr. tells the Bangor Daily News his brother died later that day.

The Bangor Fire Department says the State Fire Marshal’s office is investigating the cause of the fire. Police say they believe it’s an isolated incident and there’s no threat to the public. They’re asking anyone with information to give them a call.
