Death of elderly woman in Hartland ruled a homicide

The death of a 78-year-old Hartland woman has been ruled a homicide.

On Monday, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner said Velma Withee was killed before her body was found in a home on Canaan Road on April 12.

Withee’s cause of death has not been released.

Police say there’s no known threat to the public and the investigation is ongoing.
