Jail officials say a female inmate at Oxford County Jail died on Friday.
According to the Portland Press Herald, jail administrator Capt. Dana Dillingham confirmed the death on Monday morning.
Dillingham said more information would be released later on Monday.
The Maine State Police Major Crimes unit is investigating, which is standard procedure.
