Maine State Police say a man who died on the island of Vinalhaven on Sunday night was killed in a confrontation inside of a home.

Public Safety Spokesman Steve McCausland on Friday said the death of 28-year-old Roger Feltis was ruled a homicide, but police continue to investigate the circumstances of his death.

Police say Feltis was fatally injured by a knife during a confrontation at the home of Dorian and Briannah Ames on Roberts Cemetery Road that night.

Briannah Ames was also injured during the confrontation and was treated and released from the hospital.

McCausland says investigators will continue reviewing evidence, autopsy results, and will be consulting with the Attorney General’s Office.

It wasn’t immediately clear whether either of the home’s residents are facing any charges.
