The first Costco location in Maine could be coming to Scarborough.

The company submitted its formal site plan review for a proposed location at the former Scarborough Downs horse track, according to the Portland Press Herald.

Costco Wholesale Development met with the Scarborough Planning Board on Monday to propose their site review.

The board has brought up several issues, with one member suggesting a turning lane to avoid traffic backups along Payne Road.

Developers have addressed concerns about parking lot size and its potential impact on wetlands.

The 161,000 square-foot facility would also include a filling station.
