DIXFIELD, Maine (WGAN) A town manager in Oxford County connected with a conspiracy to illegally sell marijuana has been removed from his position.

According to WGME-TV, James McLamb was terminated after a unanimous vote by selectmen in Dixfield.

He was accused of tipping off two Franklin County Sheriff’s Deputies who were under investigation for their role in the conspiracy and destroying evidence. At the time, McLamb was a deputy with the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office.

An affidavit claims the operation was headed by Lucas Sirois of Farmington.

McLamb is one of a dozen people connected to the operation, including other members of law enforcement and a prosecutor. McLamb faces up to 40 years behind bars.
