A Maine man is accused of barricading himself inside of a home in Smithfield and causing a standoff with police.

The Somerset County Sheriff’s Office says a report of a domestic disturbance at a home on Quaker Lane in Smithfield came in around 1:30 Wednesday afternoon. The person told police they had been assaulted and threatened by 33-year-old Sy Perri.

Perri was taken into custody around 9:30 Wednesday night. He was charged with aggravated assault and criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon. More charges are possible.

It happened the same day as an unrelated standoff in Auburn, where 38-year-old James Bourgoin was taken into custody after being sought by police for drug trafficking.
