A driver is dead after a tree came down on their car in Corinth during a thunderstorm Thursday afternoon.

Penobscot County deputies say a tree branch went through the windshield and fatally hit the driver on Main Street around 1:30 p.m.

They say the vehicle continued traveling until another motorist was able to stop it.

Two children were in the car at the time of the crash, with one treated on the scene while the other was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The name of the person who was killed has not yet been released.

The incident remains under investigation.
