A woman was killed in Farmington Monday when a tree limb toppled by strong winds crushed the roof of her car.

According to the Portland Press Herald, 31-year-old Rochelle Hager of Waterville was killed while driving on Knowlton Corner Road just before 10 a.m.

Police Chief Kenneth Charles says she was likely killed instantly when the top of a pine tree fell on her vehicle. He says it appears the car crossed the center line after the impact and came to a rest in the northbound lane.

No one else was inside the vehicle at the time.

The tree limb also struck power lines and snapped a nearby utility pole.
