RUMFORD, Maine (WGAN) Maine drug agents arrested five people, including one person wanted in New York on a homicide charge, during a drug bust in Rumford.
Maine’s Drug Enforcement Agency says two people from Rumford and three men from New York were arrested early Wednesday morning as part of an ongoing investigation into the distribution of crack cocaine and heroine in the Rumford area.
Agents searched an apartment on Pine Street in Rumford around 5 a.m. Wednesday and found 70 grams of cocaine base, 40 grams of suspected heroin/fentanyl, $2,800 in suspected drug proceeds, scales, and additional items related to drug distribution.
20-year-old Chelsey Marie Russell of Rumford was arrested. 19-year-old Yohanis Marquis, 23-year-old Abdul-Malik Mardah and 18-year-old Arimay Figueroa, all 3 from The Bronx, New York were also taken into custody. Agents say they arrested 19-year-old Yarette Armondo Dones in Wilton Thursday afternoon in connection with Wednesday’s drug bust.
Agents say Marquis was wanted on a homicide charge and robbery charges in New York. He was charged with fugitive from justice and aggravated trafficking.
Mardah, Figueroa, and Russell were all charged with aggravated trafficking.
All five except for Dones were taken to Oxford County Jail. Yohanis is being held without bail on the fugitive Homicide and Robbery warrants. Mardah and Figueroa are being held on $100,000 cash bail. Bail was set at $800 cash on Russell.
Dones was out on bail from a Franklin County case involving a domestic assault. He’s being held at the Franklin County Jail in Farmington pending his transfer to the Oxford County Jail in South Paris. Bail has been denied pending his initial appearance in court, expected in South Paris Friday afternoon.
