CORINTH, Maine (WGAN) Drug agents and Maine State Police arrested three people after seizing nearly three pounds of suspected fentanyl from a home in Corinth.

Early on Wednesday, authorities searched the home and seized about 2.8 pounds of suspected fentanyl. Most of it was found in sealed cans of beans. About $3,000 in drug proceeds was seized as well.

The arrests followed a months-long investigation into the distribution of drugs in Penobscot County.

Police arrested 23-year-old Jefferson De La Cruz-Bonilla of Lawrence, Massachusetts and the Dominican Republic; 36-year-old Dusty Bickford of Black Road in Corinth; and 33-year-old Jessica Bickford, also of Black Road in Corinth.

All three were taken to Penobscot County Jail. They face aggravated trafficking charges because of the amount of fentanyl that was seized.

The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are likely.
