A Maine man is accused of smuggling methamphetamine into the U.S. and lying to the DEA.

25-year-old Victor Sousa of Wayne was sentenced to 33 months behind bars followed by three years of supervised release. He was accused of bringing meth pills into the U.S. and intentionally making false statements to a federal law enforcement agent.

He pleaded guilty to the drug charges in September of 2022, and to making false statements in December of 2023.

Border Patrol said officers found 93 pills in Sousa’s underwear when he was stopped at the Canadian border in July of 2019.
