An elderly northern Maine man has critical injuries after his ATV crashed with an SUV on a rural road southeast of Fort Kent.

Police say 87-year-old Norman Daigle of Cross Lake Township entered Caribou Road from an ATV trail in a 2023 Polaris Ranger side-by-side.

Officers say 60-year-old Milan Bogdanovic of Fort Kent was driving a 2018 Ford Expedition and tried to avoid Daigle, who was in the same lane, but the two vehicles crashed.

Daigle was ejected from his ATV side-by-side.

He was taken to Northern Maine Medical Center in Fort Kent, and later flown by LifeFlight to Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor for further treatment.

Daigle remains in critical condition. Bogdanovic was not injured in the crash.

Maine State Police say an investigation is ongoing. The crash took place at about 3:30 pm Tuesday.
