Elderly Milbridge Woman Reported Missing Found Alive

MILBRIDGE, Maine (WGAN)  The Maine Warden Service says a missing Milbridge woman has been found alive.

Wardens say 83-year-old Suzanne Hubbell was reported missing early Wednesday morning, after a caretaker arrived at her home and discovered she wasn’t there.

Wardens say a search began immediately alongside Milbridge Police, the Washington County Sheriff’s Department and Maine Marine Patrol.

Wardens say a neighbor reported seeing her around 8 a.m. walking her dog.  A K9 unit was unable to indicate a direction of travel, though.

A helicopter from the Maine Army Guard was brought in, but visibility from the air was poor, because of thick vegetation and leaf cover of the woods, according to wardens.

More K9 units were called in and around 11:15 p.m., wardens say Hubbell was found alive about a half mile in the woods from the nearest road.

Wardens say Hubbell was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
