Ellsworth Sees Healthy Growth in City Construction Projects

ELLSWORTH, Maine (AP) A number of upcoming projects in the Maine city of Ellsworth are keeping building companies busy, with the city manager noting an increase in building permits.

The Bangor Daily News reports at least 99 housing units are under review or construction in the city home to about 7,750 residents. The Jackson Lab’s $200 million mouse breeding center is also in the works, bringing a number of workers to the area.

City Manager David Cole says there is a pent-up demand for housing in the area and developers are building as fast they can.
