You might be breathing a little easier this year compared to 2018.
That’s because air quality in Maine and New England has improved slightly, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The EPA says New England saw 24 days with unhealthy ozone levels from March to September, compared to 28 days during the same period in 2018. Maine only saw one day during that period where ozone concentration was considered unhealthy, compared to 3 days the year before.
The EPA says a cool, wet spring contributed to the improvement.
