Several faith groups met outside of Cabela’s in Scarborough Saturday to protest the store’s continued sale of AR-style rifles in light of Lewiston’s mass shooting.

The new organization, Thoughts and Prayers in Action, was formed in the aftermath of the Oct. 25. mass shooting that killed 18.

According to the Portland Press Herald, the group is made up of several interfaith organizations from Portland and Lewiston-Auburn.

The group aims to stop the sale of AR-style semi-automatic rifles and high-powered magazines as well as raise the minimum age to purchase a firearm from 18 to 21.

Around 50 people showed up to the gathering, where they offered prayers, moments of silence and held up signs demanding change.
