Fatal wreck in Sidney caused by aggressive driving, state police say

Maine State Police say aggressive driving is to blame for a fatal accident on I-95 in Sidney.

Police say the two-vehicle crash happened a little before 10 a.m. Thursday.

They said 58-year-old Brian Landry of Fairfield attempted to overtake another vehicle in the travel lane. Landry’s car was cut off by a pickup truck being driven by 52-year-old Miles Ranger of Old Orchard Beach.

Troopers determined that Ranger was driving aggressively while trying to merge into the passing lane. His pickup truck made contact with Landry’s vehicle, causing the pickup to roll over several times.

Ranger, who wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle. He was brought to the hospital in critical condition and later pronounced dead.

Police said Landry’s vehicle took minor damage. He wasn’t injured.

State police are still investigating the details of the crash.
