A West Bath man is under arrest after his 2-year-old son shot him with a gun that was left unsecured on a nightstand.

25-year-old Ian Carr turned himself in on a warrant for one count of endangering the welfare of a child.

Both Carr and his wife were injured in the shooting Wednesday morning but have since been released from the hospital. The 2-year-old was hit and injured in the face from the recoil of the gun.

Police said an infant was also in the home at the time of the shooting.

Carr was released on personal recognizance bail but is prohibited from possessing weapons and can’t return to the home. The children are in the custody of family members.

Carr is set to be arraigned in August.
