A statement released Monday night says the investigation now includes the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), which is joining the state Fire Marshall’s Office with assistance from the Maine Fuel Board and the Auburn Fire Department.

The statement says multiple accidental causes have been identified and are still being examined.

The fire is currently classified as undetermined, with no indication of foul play.

A 911 call was placed at about 5:55 p.m. Sunday reporting a fire at the Maine Turnpike Authority garage located off the side of I-95 and Hackett Road in Auburn.

The Auburn Fire Department says it found the 6 bay garage fully engulfed in flames when they arrived.

The building and its contents are a total loss, including four plow trucks and numerous other vehicles. Fire Marshal’s Office investigators were still on scene Monday morning conducting an origin and cause investigation.

No injuries were reported.
