Fences have been put up around the site of a sewer separation project along Portland’s Back Cove trail.

According to the Portland Press Herald, the fenced-in portion runs south along Baxter Boulevard from the area of Cheverus High School.

Workers will be removing the city’s older sewer-stormwater overflow locations, with the goal of reducing wastewater runoff into Casco Bay.

The city expects to announce plans for traffic control in the area in the coming weeks.
