Fire at Portland apartment building leaves 11 displaced

Eleven people were left without a place to live after a fire at an apartment building in Portland.

The fire department says the fire broke out at 59 Bramhall St. around 4:40 a.m. Friday. Fire was seen coming from multiple top floor windows. The fire was knocked down by 5 a.m.

Officials said the building had working smoke alarms.

There were no injuries reported but two of the building’s occupants were evaluated at the scene.

The Red Cross is assisting the eleven people who were displaced.

Officials say the fire was accidental, but the cause has not been released.
