A fire at an auto shop in Turner on Thursday may have caused more than half a million dollars in damage.

Willie’s Auto Body went up in flames after fire investigators say carpeting in a vehicle caught fire while welding work was being done.

Turner Fire Chief Steve Michaud said the building was a total loss, but the business was covered by insurance.

There were no injuries in the fire.
