No one was hurt but residents were displaced after a fire broke out in Lewiston early Tuesday morning.

Fire officials responded to the apartment building at the corner of Howe and Ash Streets around 7:30, according to Lewiston Assistant Fire Chief Mark Caron. He says there were no injuries, but all of the residents have been displaced and are being helped by the Red Cross.

It took about an hour for crews to put the fire out. It caused damage to the second floor of the building and the roof.

A neighbor tells CBS 13 he started knocking on the windows and doors to alert those inside.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
