Fire investigators asking for public’s help investigating fatal New Vineyard fire

The Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office says a fire in New Vineyard on Thursday took the life of one person.

Fire officials say crews from surrounding towns responded to a residence on High Street around 11:30 p.m. Thursday. They remained on scene all day Friday to investigate, and discovered the remains of one adult. They believe them to be that of 51-year-old Christopher Keirstead, who was the homeowner.

The remains were taken to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Augusta.

The fire marshal’s office says Keirstead was last seen in Farmington around 4 p.m. Thursday. Investigators are asking to speak with anyone who saw or had contact with him after that time.
