The victim in a fatal fire that broke out in Mechanic Falls has been identified.

According to the Maine Fire Marshal’s office, firefighters responded to the residential fire on Jordan Road on Sunday around 7:20 p.m.

Investigators arrived at the scene after the body of 74-year-old Terry Bisbee was discovered inside the home, where she lived. Her remains were examined by the Medical Examiner’s Office on Monday morning, but the cause of death was pending further testing.

Investigators don’t suspect foul play, and say the fire was accidental. It started from a smoker that was being used in the garage attached to the home.
